Half day tour in Delos island
Depart from the port of Tourlos by bus towards Mykonos town where you will take a 10 minutes walk to the quay for the Delos-boat departures. OR Pick up from your hotel by bus or coach (transfer).
Boat departs at 11:00am. Enjoy a pleasant boat trip to Delos, now a desolate wind-swept island visited only by tourists, the ruins of its famous archaeological site still imbued with a sense of mystic fervor and nostalgia.
The boat heads towards the west side of the island close to the sacred harbor, from where the modern breakdown leads directly to the entrance of the archaeological site. You will have the chance to walk into the heart of the sanctuary, where you will see the remaining of the first temples of Apollo and Artemis, magnificent monuments famous for their history and architectural style, the famous sacred lake guarded by the unique marble lions of Delos, some of the originals are still housed at the museum. After a rest stop, you will head towards the terrace of the foreign gods and the theater area. From here you will delight in a spectacular view of the ancient site and the entire archipelago. Continue on to the famous Hellenistic mansions of Delos with their floors and walls decorated with superb mosaics. Return journey by boat to Mykonos where the tour will end at the old port.
You may stay in town or return back to the ship for lunch....OR our coach/car can transfer you back to your hotel.
Remarks:
Low heeled comfortable shoes, hat and sun cream are recommended. Tour involves walking over uneven surfaces for 2 hrs approx.
